In addition to Tweak UI for Win98 there are a number of other very useful tools found on the Windows 98 CD. Included with the "Windows 98 Resource Kit Sampler" in the \tools\reskit folder on the CD are some great utilities I have found to come in very handy.

Unfortunately as these and other Win98 "CD-ROM Extras" are not included with OEM preloaded versions of Win98 as IBM has implemented it on it's PCs Aptiva owners as a group are denied access to these tools. As so many users have requested these utilities I am providing this small collection of my personal favorites.

Note that this is just a "sampling of the Sampler" and not the entire group of Resource Kit tools. Of the 25 utilities included I feel that between Tweak98 and the seven applications provided here this represents the top 1/3 of the collection. Enjoy!

The LinkCheck Wizard utility scans all shortcuts (*.LNK files) on your system, checking to see if the shortcuts all point to existing applications or documents. LinkCheck identifies and gives you the option to remove "dead" shortcuts.

FileInfo

This utility provides information about virtually every file that is included with Win98 and IE4, including file sizes, dates, installed location, CAB file location, and a short description of each file. A useful troubleshooting tool.
