General Information
The 10/100 Fast EtherLink XL with Remote Wake-Up - by 3Com includes PC management features which let you start a PC from a central point of management. Adding an optional Managed PC Boot Agent, available directly from 3Com, to the adapter enables the PC to boot from the network before loading the operating system. The Remote Wake-Up feature responds to a Magic Packet(TM) signal from a remote management agent. Both adapters provide 10BASE-T Ethernet and 100BASE-TX Fast Ethernet LAN attachment for Intel PCs with 80386, or higher, microprocessors and PCI Bus, depending on the speed of the connected hub. The adapters are easy to use with Windows software diagnostics for installation and troubleshooting.

LEDs indicate link integrity and activity for both 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps. Additionally, Dynamic Access(TM) software brings intelligence to these adapters with features that include:
  • Standards-based traffic prioritization
  • dRMON Smart Agent software for comprehensive and affordable network management

The adapters include device drivers for all leading operating systems and network operating systems.

These adapters provide the following performance features:
  • Interactive Access technology to minimize CPU use
  • Parallel Tasking(R) II architecture for high throughput and low processor use
  • Full-duplex 10 Mbps and 100 Mbps support
  • Better Internet and intranet performance with checksum-enabled hardware IP
  • Fast IP switching solution for scaling internetwork performance as bandwidth requirements increase
  • 32-bit bus master design with full scatter, gather, and infinite bursting performance
  • Flow control (IEEE 802.3x) that optimizes performance in switched networks through efficient data transmissions
