A Cleaner Desktop:
SINGLE WINDOW BROWSING

Click on any folder in

My Computer
Click View
Click Options
On the Folder tab, change the BROWSING OPTION
Click Apply

Instead of the default selection
"Browse folders using a separate window for each folder"
Select the other choice
"Browse folders by using a single window that changes
as you open each folder"

It will work the same way in Windows Explorer,
but it must be set up in My Computer.

In order to move up and down the branches of your various directories using the "single window browsing option", Click
View in any folder and Click Toolbar.

This will add a convenient toolbar to your windows including
Up Directory and New Folder buttons, easy access to Cut, Copy, Paste, Delete and Properties of all files and folders as well as a "drop-down menu" that will enable quick changing of directories and even Drives.
