Aptiva Video Card Upgrade
Received from a 2168-M62 owner:
I own an IBM aptiva model 2168 m-62 and overall it has been fairly good.
Since buying it I have added L2 cache, upgraded the ram, replaced the mwave
with a separate sound card and modem (SB16 and usrobotics sportster), and
added a Matrox Mystique video card. It is with the video card I had the
most trouble.
All of the problems I had with it stemmed from the fact that the on board
video card did not want to disable itself properly. If I removed it from
device manager win95 would just re detect it and reinstall it. So I went
under properties and unclicked the original config. option. All seemed well
except my 3d software seemed to be running slower than expected. After
contemplating the dilemma for a while I searched for and deleted all the
drivers for the trident video card and removed it again, when win95 started
back up and complained about wanting drivers i clicked cancel. And all is
well.
To make this a little shorter my idea seemed to work and now my 3d enhanced
stuff runs nearly twice as fast.
