"Insufficient Memory"

error when running QAPro Advanced Diagnostics

Problem

Error message:
"Insufficient memory to complete operation"

Occurs

When attempting to run the Advanced Diagnostics from the Aptiva Diagnostics and Utilities CD

Effects

2134, 2176, 2159, 2161, 2162, 2140 and 2142 Aptiva models [without regard to the amount of RAM memory installed]

Cause

Loading DoubleSpace drivers [which may load by default even if you have not compressed your hard drive] often does not leave sufficient conventional memory in DOS to run the QA Pro Advanced Diagnostics module.

Solution
  1. Insert the Diagnostic and Utilities CD
  2. Shutdown and restart your computer
  3. When Starting Windows 95 is seen tap the F8 key
  4. Choose Step by Step Confirmation
  5. Load everything EXCEPT the DoubleSpace driver
  6. Run the Advanced Diagnostics
